All tool design is completed in-house by an experienced team of engineers. The diversity of our products allows us to take on the most challenging of stampings in terms of complex designs and premium surface critical applications. There is a one-time tool charge for the initial tool build, but it is Olin Fab policy to fully maintain those tools at our cost for the life of the product.
Gaging methods and equipment are tailored to each specific part design, with regard to customer requirements for control of key characteristics. There is a thorough gage calibration system that verifies all gages are calibrated on a yearly basis, with more frequent inspections for any signs of wear or damage. Primary inspection of product at the press by the operator emphasizes our commitment of building quality into our parts. Control plans detail the in-process inspection requirements and are part of the PPAP submittal process used for initial samples.
